Heirloom furniture can only be considered heirloom if it can be passed down from generation to generation. That not only means using durable build materials and techniques, but more importantly inherent beauty and function.

We pride ourselves on working alongside our customers to create pieces which will not only have great visual appeal but withstand everyday use and continue to be functional; fitting the hand and body like a glove or bespoke suite.

Our process

  • All our designs begin with a need whether that be storage, space-saving or socialising. We start with a blank space and blank piece of paper and with your needs and desires we aim to create a unique item you can pass down.

    Through a series of sketches, we build a full detailed design that you’re happy with before the first cut; from the taper of a leg, wood choice and orientation, to the feel and finish.

    Along the way we make sure that the technical details that impact on the design are explained so you can be sure the piece is right for what you intend for it.

    To start the design process all we ask for is small deposit, the amount depending on the brief and size of the piece.

  • Once you are happy with the design, the next step is wood choice. Every board and beam that goes through our workshop is hand-picked specifically for its new home. We use local timber merchants and FSC Certified timber to ensure quality and sustainability.

    Each piece is then built to your specification, by hand, using hand tools in our workshop to ensure the highest quality construction and longevity. Working by hand with hand tools we get to understand every inch of the wood, so we can choose the perfect wood for each piece of the puzzle.

  • Once built each piece is carefully prepared for the finishing stage, using your preferred finish decided at the design stage. Every piece is finished by hand from sanding, brushing to buffed.

    The piece is then carefully packed ready for delivery, the method chosen by you advised by us. Smaller pieces can be delivered using standard methods, but for larger or more delicate pieces we like to deliver by hand and put each piece together personally.

  • The next stage is for you, to age the piece and develop its patina in your own way, through use and love.

    On delivery we advice on a variety of care techniques to suite your life style, and we’re always on hand when accidents happen.
